British Favourite Scrunch
A classic British bake with a crunchy, buttery base and a rich chocolate finish.
Among Britain’s much-loved home bakes, the Scrunch stands out for its simplicity and comforting flavour. Originally made in home kitchens using leftover ingredients, it has a rustic charm that has lasted for generations.
With a crisp, crumbly texture and a buttery base, this bake is finished with a dip in melted chocolate for extra indulgence. It is easy to make, easy to customise, and always satisfying.
Ingredients
- 60 g corn flakes (crushed)
- 140 g rolled oats
- 80 g desiccated coconut
- 125 g all-purpose flour
- 60 g chopped dried cranberries
- 200 g butter
- 180 g sugar
Instructions
- Combine corn flakes, oats, desiccated coconut, flour, and dried cranberries in a bowl.
- Melt the butter over low heat, add the sugar, and stir until fully melted.
- Mix the melted butter and sugar into the dry ingredients.
- Press the mixture evenly into a lined baking pan (16 cm x 27 cm).
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20 minutes.
- While still hot, cut into squares.
- Once fully cooled, dip each piece into melted chocolate if desired.
